Raynor opener logic board repair in San Antonio typically runs $120 – $320 installed, and we stock Raynor-compatible boards on our trucks for most residential models. The logic board is the brain inside your opener’s motor housing: it reads signals from your remotes, wall buttons, and safety sensors, then tells the motor when to run. When it fails, you usually find out on a Monday morning: the door won’t budge, the wall button does nothing, and the opener just sits there with a faint click or a dead silence where the hum used to be.
What most San Antonio homeowners don’t know is that a failed logic board often gets misdiagnosed as a dead motor. We open the housing, test the board’s power input and output, and more than half the time the motor itself is fine. Replacing the board instead of the whole opener saves several hundred dollars and keeps your existing rails, chain, and remote system untouched. Jesse Calder has pulled enough scorched boards out of openers near Alamo Heights to know the difference in about ten minutes.
Which Raynor Models This Applies To
Raynor puts logic boards across nearly every residential opener line they sell, but the exact board depends on the series and the year. The Pilot, Admiral, Commander, and RJO (residential jackshaft) lines each use specific board revisions, and older units from the Reliant and Excel series have boards that are no longer manufactured. We can still source refurbished or quality aftermarket equivalents for most discontinued Raynor boards, but it takes a day or two rather than same-day.
The fastest way to identify your board: unplug the opener, remove the light cover, and look for a white or green label on the board itself with a part number beginning with “41” or “002D.” That number is the language the parts counter speaks. If the label is scorched or unreadable, we match by model number and year of manufacture, which is printed on the motor housing. One compatibility gotcha we see often: Raynor boards from the Pilot series made before 2013 are not interchangeable with post-2013 Pilot boards, even though the openers look nearly identical. The wiring harness positions changed. A board that fits one won’t seat in the other without forcing something, and forcing a board into a harness it wasn’t designed for is how you get a second board failure within a month. When we stock these, we stock by revision, not by series name.
Fernbrook Garage Doors San Antonio is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with Raynor. We also carry opener parts for LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie, so if a Raynor-specific board isn’t available, we can usually present options that fit your existing setup rather than pushing a full replacement you didn’t need.

Signs Your Raynor Opener Logic Board Is Failing
These are the symptoms in the order San Antonio homeowners most often report them. Every one of them is testable by us in the driveway, and none of them require you to touch the circuit board yourself.
- The opener is completely unresponsive, but the outlet has power. If the wall button and all remotes do nothing, and there’s no LED lit on the unit, the board may not be receiving or distributing power. We test the transformer and capacitor first, because a failed capacitor can look identical to a dead board and costs a quarter as much to fix.
- The door opens but won’t close, or closes but won’t open. A board with a fried relay can send power in one direction only. San Antonio humidity accelerates corrosion on relay contacts, especially in garages that trap heat and moisture, which shortens board life measurably compared to drier climates.
- Remotes stopped working after a power surge or lightning storm. South Texas thunderstorms are hard on opener electronics. When a surge takes out the receiver circuit, the rest of the board can sometimes be repaired, but most often we replace the board and add a surge protector at the outlet for protection going forward.
- The opener runs on its own, or the light flashes erratically. This is the board sending commands nobody asked for. It is rare but specific: when we hear “the garage door opened itself at 3 a.m.,” a failing logic board is the usual culprit.
- The wall console works but all wireless remotes are dead. Sometimes the board’s receiver module has failed while the rest of the board still works. On some Raynor models, that receiver module is replaceable separately. We check that before quoting a full board.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In San Antonio, expect $120 – $320 installed for a Raynor opener logic board replacement. The range breaks down like this: a universal or economy replacement board starts near the low end, while an OEM-spec Raynor board for a current-model Admiral or RJO lands closer to the high end. Labor is included in that number; we don’t quote a low parts price and then pad the invoice with dispatch fees, hourly minimums, or “difficulty” surcharges.
| Raynor Logic Board Repair Component | Typical Installed Range (San Antonio) |
|---|---|
| Universal / economy-compatible board | $120 – $190 |
| OEM-spec Raynor board (current models) | $200 – $320 |
| Receiver module replacement (if board is salvageable) | $120 – $180 |
| Surge protector added at the outlet | $45 – $85 (optional, recommended) |
Every price is written down and agreed before any work begins. That is not a courtesy; it is how we run every visit. The board we install is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if it fails within a year, we come back and make it right. No fine print, no negotiating.
DIY or Call Us?
Let’s be honest about this part. A logic board sits inside the motor housing, wired to line voltage coming off your garage circuit. That is not a part we recommend opening up on a ladder with the opener still plugged in, and it’s the kind of job where a short across the wrong two pins turns a $150 repair into a $500 opener replacement. The board is also static-sensitive, which means handling it on carpet in flip-flops can kill it before it’s ever installed.
What you can safely do before calling us: check that the outlet has power by plugging in a lamp or phone charger, verify the opener’s cord hasn’t loosened, and look for an obvious tripped GFCI outlet or breaker. Those three checks take two minutes and give us a cleaner starting point when we arrive. Beyond that, save the board for a technician who has the meter and the spares. There is high-tension and high-voltage equipment inside that housing, and neither one forgives a mistake. Call (806) 602-8374 and a live person will answer, day or night.
FAQs
A Raynor logic board typically lasts 8 – 12 years in San Antonio, but garages that hold heat and humidity without ventilation can see failures as early as year six. Power surges from summer thunderstorms shorten that further. If you live in an older Alamo Heights home with original wiring, a surge protector on the opener circuit is cheap insurance.
Sometimes yes: a blown fuse, a cold solder joint, or a corroded relay can be repaired at component level. But board-level repair only makes financial sense when the replacement is discontinued and hard to find. For current-model boards, replacement is usually faster and more reliable. We test and tell you which route is cheaper before anything gets ordered. Call (806) 602-8374 and we’ll give you an honest read on your board.
Most Raynor logic board replacements take 45 – 90 minutes from the time we pull into the driveway, assuming the model is identified and the part is on the truck. Older or discontinued boards that need ordering add one to two business days. We call before we head out so you know which one you’re in for.
We stock common Raynor Pilot, Admiral, Commander, and RJO logic boards, plus universal boards that fit most residential openers. Discontinued boards are ordered same-day and typically arrive within two business days. We also carry opener parts for LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie if a cross-compatible option is available. If you need a board today, call (806) 602-8374 and we’ll confirm stock before we dispatch.
